The Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking has become a multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary university training institution in the fields of economics, business, management, law, social sciences, and humanities. With its role as one of the key departments of the school, the Banking Department is assigned to be in charge of the following training programs:

1. Standard full-time university system - Finance and Banking major - Banking specialty

2. Standard full-time university system - Finance and Banking major - Financial Technology specialty

3. Standard full-time university system - Financial Technology major

Between 2019 and 2023, the Faculty has improved the banking major program and developed teaching methods to enhance the educational quality to meet the requirements for high-level human resources for socio-economic development. All training programs have been and are being quality accredited according to international and domestic standards.

All lecturers and students of FOB have experienced many scientific activities and publications nationally and internationally.

Regarding scientific research and technology transfer by the Faculty’s staff:

In addition to enhancing the scientific research activities, the Faculty also emphasizes utilizing the research’s results for technology transfer and community service, as followed by the AUN-QA’s assessment in April 2019. Each year, Faculty members collaborate with the Economics, Finance, and Banking Training Center, which belongs to HUB, to use the scientific research results for consulting and implementing advanced training courses. The courses such as digital transformation, digital banking, in-depth banking operations, and risk management following international standards are well-suited and designed for the leaders and staff of commercial banks, enterprises, and authorized agencies. These courses enhance the reputation and brand value of the HUB and the Faculty but also yield positive financial results. Specifically, revenue from technology transfer activities in the form of consulting and advanced training courses reached 1.4 billion VND in 2019, 1.34 billion VND in 2020, 1.5 billion VND in 2021, 2 billion VND in 2022, and estimated at 4.2 billion VND in 2023. In addition to promoting technology transfer activities, the Faculty also emphasizes community service initiatives. Specifically, the Faculty staff has collaborated with the Enrollment Advisory and Brand Development Department, which belongs to HUB, to organize "Trial Class" sessions to disseminate financial knowledge to high school students. The Faculty has collaborated with the HUB International School of Business to construct "Savings Game" training courses, which provide financial knowledge to workers in industrial zones.

All lecturers of the Banking Department are reputable scientists, trained or have worked at prestigious schools abroad, have experience teaching in English, and have research experience in an international environment.

• Topics: The specialized management department has many associated topics that have been implemented recently at various levels;
• Domestic and international papers: The specialized management department has more than 200 domestic and international papers in the past 5 years. Among them are many papers in prestigious world journals.
• Seminars and scientific events: The Banking Department has chaired the organization of many scientific seminars at the grassroots level, forums and many scientific events associated with the fields of economics, banking and financial technology, attracting the participation of many researchers inside and outside the school.

Regarding scientific research activities and community services by students: 

In addition to creating the framework and encouraging students to participate in scientific research activities, the Faculty regularly organizes academic competitions and seminars for students. These are "Banking Challenges," " Research to Success," and "Generative AI - Technology Driving a New Revolution in Education." Between 2019 and 2023, students under Faculty lecturers’ advice achieved numerous high awards in research competitions. Notably, students achieved the first prize in the national competition named "Quantitative Economics and Applications Olympic" in 2020, and achieved the first and second prizes in the same competition in 2022. Students also attained multiple awards in the competition named “Eureka”.

The Banking Department in particular and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking in general, especially value the cooperative relationships with businesses and organizations; contributing to the creation of a cohesive ecosystem, bringing practical benefits to all parties, especially students. These cooperative relationships are the basis for the department and the school to successfully implement many training programs, scientific research, faculty and student exchanges, cultural exchanges, and study tours; along with scholarship programs, and post-graduation job support… bringing practical benefits to learners.

Between 2019 and 2023, alongside the academic and theoretical knowledge, the Faculty also provides practical relevance and experience to students. To do this, the Faculty has invested in practical facilities such as the Banking Practice room, Artificial Intelligence lab, and Experimental Stock Exchange Trading System. Additionally, HUB and the Faculty have signed numerous agreements with commercial banks and enterprises to make room for students to gain practical experience at work.
